Central Ohio Primary Care Promotes Khrista Achtermann to Chief Operating Officer

Central Ohio Primary Care is pleased to announce the promotion of Khrista Achtermann to Chief Operating Officer.

Achtermann brings nearly 18 years of healthcare experience to her new role, including more than eight years with COPC. She most recently served as Chief Innovation Officer and has also held the role of Market President for the organization’s agilon/COPC relationship, where she played a key role in advancing strategic initiatives and strengthening operational and financial performance.

Prior to joining COPC, Achtermann spent nearly a decade at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in progressive leadership roles spanning supply chain operations, enterprise systems implementation, and population health. Her experience includes leading system-wide supply chain initiatives and supporting risk-based care models that improve care delivery and outcomes for patients.

Throughout her career, Achtermann has earned the respect of physicians and team members through her thoughtful leadership, deep operational expertise, and unwavering commitment to COPC’s mission. She has demonstrated a strong track record of success in practice operations, helping implement processes and systems that enhance efficiency, improve consistency, and support care teams in delivering high-quality patient care. Her ability to translate strategy into execution has driven meaningful improvements across the organization and positions her well to lead in this role.

Achtermann succeeds Mike Ashanin, who will depart COPC in early July after many years of dedicated service and leadership. His contributions have been instrumental in the organization’s growth and operational strength, and COPC extends its sincere gratitude for his lasting impact.

“As we look to the future, Khrista’s leadership, experience, and commitment to excellence make her the right choice to help guide our organization forward,” said Don Deep, MD, Chief Executive Officer at Central Ohio Primary Care. “We are confident she will continue to build on our strong foundation in support of our physicians, patients, and long-term success.”
