It’s easy to put off a doctor’s appointment when nothing seems wrong, but that’s exactly when a well visit is most useful. Many conditions develop without any warning signs, but your annual well visit gives your PCP a chance to spot changes early and track developing trends in your health. The goal isn’t just to treat you when you’re sick, it’s to help make sure you stay healthy through ongoing preventative care.
When to Schedule an Appointment with Your PCP

Same-Day Centers
Same-day centers are for situations when you need care now, but your regular doctor is out of the office or has no same-day appointments open.
At Central Ohio Primary Care’s same-day centers, you can be seen the same day without going through an ER wait. Our same-day centers are staffed by physicians who can access your existing medical chart, update your records in real time, and loop in your PCP so that nothing falls through the cracks.
Services available include X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, lab work, and IV hydration, among others. Locations are generally open weekdays and weekends, with hours ranging from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. depending on location. For patients age 17 or younger, our pediatric support center offers care tailored to children and teens.
When to Visit a Same-Day Center
- Fever, cold, or flu symptoms
- Respiratory issues like bronchitis, pneumonia, or COPD exacerbation
- Allergies or rashes
- Asthma flare-ups
- Nausea, vomiting, or dehydration
- UTIs or minor infections
- Minor cuts or burns

Urgent Care
Urgent care is a step up in intensity. It’s appropriate when your condition is more acute, or when it falls outside the scope of what a same-day center handles. For example, suspected bone fractures are a common reason why patients visit urgent care centers.
Costs vary by facility, but in general, urgent care visits tend to have higher co-pays than visits to same-day centers. As an established COPC patient, your co-pay at a same-day center will typically be lower than what you’d pay at urgent care. It’s also important to know that your records won’t automatically feed into your PCP’s system the way they would through a same-day center visit.

One of the biggest advantages of using a same-day center over an unaffiliated urgent care is continuity of care. Unlike a standalone urgent care, a COPC same-day center works within your existing care network. The provider you see updates your chart on the spot and your PCP gets immediately notified. That means by the time you have a follow-up appointment, your PCP already knows what happened, what was found, and what was prescribed. For patients who have complex or ongoing health needs, that continuity isn’t just convenient, it can be critically important.
There’s also a financial advantage. As an established patient, your co-pay at a same-day center will typically be lower than what you’d pay at an out-of-network urgent care.
