Finding a form of physical activity that will work for you isn't always easy, especially when you don't know where to begin your fitness journey. To help our patients, their families, and other community members become more active in a safe way, we decided to host our weekly Walk With a Doc events to provide a welcoming fitness outlet.

The facts and benefits of walking:

  • Walking is the easiest fitness program for anyone who is looking to start one. You can start slow and for shorter distances then gradually build your way up.
  • It's the perfect path to fitness because it doesn't require any special skills or expensive equipment. All you need is a good pair of shoes!
  • Walking has a lower risk of injury compared to high-impact activities like running.
  • It will improve your health because you'll not only become aerobically fit, but it can also help with health problems such as insomnia, depression, and diabetes.
  • You can walk at your convenience because it's a flexible activity. You can do it any time and anywhere despite the weather, since you can do it indoors and outdoors.
